The Quiff and Cheekbones: Here comes Prince Pelayo!

Times Magazine listed him in the “40 bloggers everyone is talking about” list, as the Undisputed IT boy of London fashion with 50% quiff and 50% cheekbones.

He is known for his big and tall hair (quiff) and named as one of GQ (UK)’s best street style fashion.

He is Prince Pelayo, or Pelayo Diaz Zapico. The blogger of which documents the hip and young  happenings of London and everywhere else he set foot on. From Cannes Film Fest, Spain (his hometown) to Paris and Milan.

He is definitely one of the few ce”web”brities of the blogosphere with the likes of Style Bubble, Bryanboy and Style Rookie.

The prince is a student at one of the best fashion schools, Central Saint Martins whom gave birth the geniuses like Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, John Galliano and Zac Posen.

Like McQueen, his signature style was the kilt that he carries so well that it was feature in countless magazines, blogs and newspapers. His style were applauded by the eyes of fashion editors, stylists and readers.

Despite being a student, his mark in fashion is considerably significant. Perhaps the best highlight of his career was his DIY safety pin top. A simple black tee with pins stucked on the neckline, sleeves and a pin made cross on the chest.

That simple aesthetic transformed from a personal project to custom made orders and sold in consignments. And then the miracle happened. Rihanna or her stylist approached him and asked him to design a costume for her music video, Hard.

His success was clear even before this prominent project, when he appears in magazines from Vogue (Korea), L’officiel Hommes China, GQ (UK), to WAD magazine. He was also frequently appeared in the blogs like Bryan Boy and Sartorialist.

But what made his blog great was the unpretentious attitude that is willing to show everything to his readers. The good, the bad and the fabulous.

And he even admits that before all the invites to the shows and events, before he was famed, he scour from location to location, waiting outside the fashion tents for someone to recognize him and perhaps be kind enough to bring him along.

But now, it became a whole different story for him.

He gets first row invites to shows, invites to the coolest parties in town and participating in the best of events. He was even invited to Cannes by Dean and Dan of dSquared2.

In recent months, the Prince went back to a haircut he had before. Completely different from his famous quiff and into a short almost military crew cut hair but even without his overly famed hair, he is still the same Prince that everybody loves.

    Great looks!
But i think there’s a mistake, I’m pretty sure that he was born in Oviedo, Asturias, just as me, some of my friends know him. If not, I would like to know where to locate a “Cannes” here in Spain…
